On Ceasefire Eve, February 1973, he’s helping guard the site perimeter with two of his most trusted airmen, both African-American.
The journal takes you inside heart-wrenching orphanages; you read the adventures of a priest who endured Vietnamese communism, and learn about racism in the ranks. You savor Montgnaard “wine” drinking ceremonies, and follow delicate close down activities required for getting out of Vietnam safely while dealing with the Vietnamese.

Interesting and true story of one man's Vietnam experience.

I met Bob Lynn at a Vietnam Pleiku AFB Veteran's Reunion in Early September 2015 being held in Lexington, Kentucky. He mentioned his Kindle book, "My Only War". I found Bob's book to reflect values of Bravery, Honesty, Critical Thinking, and Charity. It gave much insight into being in a combat zone, and some day to day details of that life.
Bob also performed his mission of Radar Controller Officer with a "no excuses" attitude and to the best of his ability. As to what that mission was, you can gain some interesting, (and previously unknown), further insight by watching the video, "Nixon By Nixon: In His Own Words", a 2014 HBO Documentary available on HBO or Amazon.
I enjoyed Bob's attitude to higher authority as well as with his subordinates and Vietnamese Air Force allies and local Priests. BTW Bob, that Montgnaard Wine contained Agent Orange, according to earlier Vets.
All in all a great read, hard to put down and with many insights from a real "Character", and "American Warrior" about the closing days of the Vietnam war during the "Paris Peace Talks" winding down of hostilities. I very highly recommend the book and its author.

A fascinating look at the end of American involvement in the Vietnam War

This dairy account of the winding down of the American phase of the Vietnam War is a very good read. The unpolished and frank discussion of the war issues and the state of the US military at that time is thought provoking. The young officer perspective is an excellent vantage point. Enjoy this read
