Long Live The Republic

I must confess that I received this book as a gigt and wasn't aware that I could write a review without being a verified purchaser. Considering I buy all of my books from Amazon, perhaps my wife did too.
First, the book is well written. If it were about different type of beach sand I believe the author is such a good writer that it would be just as well written. In today's culture, that is a rare gift, as is a good orator.
The author give the big picture, from the ideals at the founding of the United States and how they have been bent and perverted along the way. So called "Conservatives" used to stand for conserving the status quo, I hope they don't now because the status quo isn't very good.
The men we look to as our Founders, men like Jefferson, Patrick Henry and George Mason were really 18th Century Classical Liberals. What they believed in and tried to instill in use was that sense of individuality which is expressed in the Declaration of Independence. Today's 18th Century Classical Liberals are the libertarians (small l). The author explains that only by changing course and incorporating libertarian ideas will the Republic. We can't keep going the way we have been going.
