About the Author
Antaeus was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. He now lives near Sarasota, Florida, USA with his wife. Both are supervised by a cat named Barbie (who thinks she's a princess).
Antaeus has written three humorous science fiction action/adventure books, Alternate Earth Tales, More Alternate Earth Tales, and Ultimate Alternate Earth Tales. All are original short story compilations.
Antaeus' science fiction action novel Rune - Laconia Lost, and his non-fiction book Armed and Alive, have both won a 5-star award from Readers' Favorite. His newest non-fiction book Disremembered Words is now available at Amazon.

Chicken Soup for the Living

Before I get to the Chicken Soup part, let me say this is the fairest well balanced presentation for why Americans should legally and with proper training arm themselves I have read or seen anywhere. Bar none, this is the one cogent discussion you really need to read.
I am a long time died in the wool liberal – generally that mean no guns. I am also a realest. We no longer live in Mayberry with Andy. That show was popular because it reflected the times and beliefs. Look at today’s popular shows. Violence is an accepted part. 'Person of Interest' looks at the serious side, 'Castle' is fun drama and they both assume a high level of violence. It is an unfortunate fact of our lives today.
Does violence beget violence? Sure, in untrained children and adolescents. But that is not who this book is for. It is for rational, mature adults with children and family to protect. Or the widow that is seen as an easy mark. Also, that is not the argument here.
Power does stop force. There are many stories where the use of a gun (just showing it) which is power stopped the violence which is force. In fact the first story, the author’s own is one such story.
Chicken Soup? Like the Chicken Soup series, this is a wonderful compilation. Here you will read real life stories of regular people like you and me who lived through a life threatening dangerous situation. Amongst the stories are list and tips on how to be proactive in a very safe and sane manner.
This isn’t about heading out to Idaho with a survivalist mentality. It is about you and me living in the world as it is today. We are faced with the occasional crazy situation - but it only takes one to make a believer of you. Or perhaps I should say, it only takes one crazy situation to make someone either a story teller or a statistic.
If you are a single woman, approaching a full head of gray (easy looking mark), have a career that puts you in a solitary position (such as real estate agent) you need to read this book.

A Great Deal of Thought Here!

ARMED AND ALIVE
As the mother of a son lost to senseless gun violence, this was an incredibly difficult issue to address. However, Antaeus has written a clear and concise book of rules on gun use and safety. It is presented through many examples of successful, if not always lawful, use of guns for protection. The representation from a large variety of states tells us that safety is an issue everywhere and conscientious preparedness is a necessity. “Concealed Carry” where laws permit is not the issue when people, as clearly addressed in this book, are even-tempered and not quick to start arguments and/or resolve them with the firearm. Knowing where and how to handle the awesome responsibility of life and death is of the utmost importance. There is no take back and the consequences . . . well, you know.
The people who profess to be “responsible gun owners” where horrendous accidents or irresponsible shootings and domestic violence occur make many others understandably wary of arming everyone. If everyone who was considering purchasing a firearm followed the suggestions in ‘Armed and Alive’ by visiting a shooting range, asking questions and applying the responses to their decision, it would make not only the buyer’s family safe, it could save the lives of others.
If you do decide to arm yourself, remember what Antaeus says in ‘Armed and Alive,’ “Once you’ve armed yourself, you lose your right to initiate ANY type of confrontation . . . to respond to verbal abuse in any way other than walking in the other direction.”

Loved it – superb read!
This is a book you literally can’t live without. I couldn’t sum up this book much better than to simply repeat the title: Armed and Alive. We all want to stay alive. This book shows you what to do when your life is on the line. It also shows how to avoid putting your life on the line.
With his fantastic collection of true stories, the author, Antaeus, manages to make this book enlightening, frightening, at times hilarious, and always wonderfully entertaining. Interspersed among countless true tales about people who saved lives with their legally owned firearms are numerous amazing facts and comments. The author’s wise and often humorous analyses of life-threatening situations, along with his unbiased information on weapons, possible legal aftermaths, and preparedness for any situation, further make this a great read.
This book clearly shows how to defend yourself, your loved ones, and even the innocent victim you may encounter. Simply said, this book is enough to change the reader’s life forever – a must read for every freedom-loving, life-loving, family-loving American.
