For any BF4 fan, this book is a MUST HAVE!

I first heard "I Fought the Law" on an oldies radio show in 1977, and played the tape I accidently recorded it on over and over until it broke. The announcer said that Bobby had taken his own life in the same year the record became a hit in 1966. I remember my 13 year old mind screaming "Why would he do that?!" The sound was so awesome, and the record was a big hit! I just could not fathom why he would do such a thing. After many years of searching for a decent recording of the song, I finally found one on an oldies compilation CD put out on Art Laboe's "Original Sound" label in 1986. Over time, I would obtain almost all of Bobby's and the BF4's recorded music, and was continually blown over by the man's talents and the performances of the band, many of which were recorded by Bobby himself in a home studio which he and his brother Randell built in their parents home. Eventually I became aware of some of the circumstances surrounding his career and several theories surrounding his death, which was ultimately ruled as "accidental". I also came to the realization that there was a TON of mis-information being circulated about Bobby's life and death, as well as the history of the band. I was sure the only person that would know the real truth about everything was his brother Randell, the man who had been closest to Bobby- not only in life, but in almost all of his musical career. Randy had been the bassist in all of Bobby's bands and was there with him all the way to the heart breaking end.

This book is THE definitive story that the public has never heard until now, as only Randy and others that were actually there and integral to the story could tell it. Co-written with Miriam Linna of Norton Records and Kicks Books, probably the biggest Super-Fan of the BF4 on earth, this book will inform, surprise, shock, and quite possibly bring you to tears. It is quite apparent how deeply his brother's tragic death has affected Randy ever since that terrible day in July of 1966, and why he has spoken very little in public about it up to now.

Every fan of the Bobby Fuller Four needs to read this book.

This is a must have!

How many remember where they were when first hearing a song? Like all kids with a bicycle and a transistor radio in 1966, I hung it from the handlebars by its case's vinyl strap, pretending it was a car with a radio. Dewayne Quirico's drum roll intro to I Fought The Law grabbed me immediately! I only heard the song a couple of times, then Love's Made A Fool Of You. Then nothing, only occasionally IFTL on the radio by whom the DJ's always referred to as "the late, great Bobby Fuller." Years later when talking with someone I mentioned Bobby Fuller, and how much I liked the song. He said, "I don't think they ever found out who killed him." Soon afterwards the tv show "Mysteries and Scandals" produced a show dedicated to his story. The bass player, Bobby's brother Randy, was interviewed. I saw the pain in his story, and began my own search for Bobby's music. I uncovered a goldmine! None other than Casey Kasem - who should know music if anyone did in that era and later - said that Bobby could have had a magnificent career. This book carries on where that show left off. It's raw and revealing, pain came through to me on most every page. The accounts by Dewayne and others who were there are priceless as well.

There is a huge difference between someone who plays music, and someone who is a musician. Bobby Fuller was a consummate professional who knew what he wanted to accomplish, and no doubt would have done so. Somehow defeat was snatched from the jaws of victory, instead of the other way around. It was a hard read for me personally, for my own reasons, but I'd definitely recommend it. I'd also recommend that anyone who loves rock & roll search our Bobby's CD's. There is a body of work easily standing the test of time.

Who Killed Bobby Fuller? Read This Book!

This is the long Awaited story about what happened to Bobby Fuller! Many people are excited about this story being told and it is a true telling of two brothers and having a shared dream, only to be snatched away in an instant! For the first time Randy Fuller reveals the pain he has kept inside for half a century over not having his brother, who left us all way too soon. Due to a rush to have the printed copy out before the big release party in NY, there are some grammatical errors, as well as a few mistakes but nothing too earth shattering. The main thing is Miriam and Randy teamed up to deliver the story of what happened and how! Many thanks to Miriam for her methodical detective work, and to Randy too for his strength and courage to reveal all the facts. Many rumors are being cleared up once and for all, it's now final! Highly recommended!

An Honest Reflection on Human Fallibility

Individuals who read this book hoping to find an ultimate explanation of why Leslie Van Houten should be freed or why she should remain in prison will find neither. What they will find is a claim that ultimately each of us must accept responsibility for how we write the narrative that is our life. Our choices about our relationships with others, our world, ourselves have outcomes which can never be certain, especially when we love another individual. Love is an act of faith and never an act of reason. That love remains haunted by past choices, is vulnerable to present circumstances, and often times fearful of the future. This is the story Dr. Chiaramonte gives us in attempting to peel back the layers of his relationship with Leslie.

Some might find his references to the drug culture of the times off-putting, but the fact remains that this culture was very much the context of the time. Anyone who has lived through the sixties and seventies as a young adult will recognize the reality that individuals from all walks of life--entertainment, academia, business, and ordinary working people--were experimenting, attempting to artificially define who they were, and sometimes just trying to run from life. The book doesn’t attempt to either justify or condemn human behaviour in this regard; it simply reminds us of human fallibility, the need we have for love, our jealousies, and our biases, and ultimately our responsibility for who we are.

The fact that Dr. Chiaramonte philosophically reflects on the nature of choice and the fallibility of humankind adds to the depth and richness of the story. The doubts he expresses, the questions he gives rise to, raise the novel from the level of the superficial to the thoughtful, from the sensational to the sincere. Whether this story will help or hurt future hearings Leslie may have is uncertain. What is important is that we have a new perspective, which when listened to, may take us nearer the truth.

The existential tale beneath

This is the existential book for the 21st century but straight from the heart of 20th century modernity. The Mason killings - a murder that shook modern society to its roots. A series of senseless acts that quite literally mixed enjoyment with pain, crime with entertainment. A story that has been told and retold through various accounts until now. Chiaramonte messes with our minds with the tale of a tender love story between himself and Leslie Van Houten (one of Manson's disciples). Based on his experiences and numbers letters between himself and Van Houten, Chiaramonte does not let the murders get in the way of telling his felt story, i.e., the one where he falls in love with a beautiful and fragile woman who is going through a series of trials that would alter her life and image through the decades. Chiaramonte does not try to revive her image or minimize her crimes. Instead he writes a poignant existential tale in the vein of Albert Camus. No guilt, no psychoanalysis but life stripped bear where all we are left with is that people live existential lives and in so doing make choices that allow us to see them as human - like us, but can also make choices that challenge every fibre of our being: all in the same embodiment and often in the same spaces. His first work of fiction (he has written academic books) Chiaramonte is a talented writer and you make just come out of reading this book with a profound sense of angst that is well worth the ride.

It feels so real...

I started reading and to be honest it took me inside the story you know. I love it, really. It feels so real and I'm actually in the story - and that's what I love about it. I didn't know much about Leslie, but as a novel itself, and for me, for a regular reader - it's exciting.
I did researches on Leslie. And by now, after reading the book I'm getting to know her better, what kind of person she is, what she is in life.
In overall - it's very smooth to read, I somehow relax while reading as it takes you inside the story. And truly I can't say when for the last time I had so much pleasure reading a book.

My Watch spans large expanses of time, from the pre-colonial Owu history, to early Abeokuta and the last throes of an independent city state at turn-of-the-century colonial Nigeria, to the early life of its author, his civil war experience, his stewardship of the transitional government of 1976-1979, the interregnum, his second appearance on the national scene as a civilian president on Nigeria's return to democracy in 1999, the completion of the first civilian-civilian transfer of government in Nigeria's history that inaugurated the Yar'Adua presidency and signalled the end of Obasanjo's tenure in office, and the years hence.
Presented in three volumes, this exquisitely narrated memoir, in turns intensely personal and broadly nationalistic and international, completes a trilogy of autobiographies—My Command, Not My Will, and My Watch—told by this sojourner of Nigerian and world history.

Today, Eva continues to sing, and her voice is getting stronger! Eva is known in the community as “Eva the Diva” and loves entertaining folks. Eva continues to share her gifts in the community. A perfect telling of one of love's imperfections

Match.bomb had me laughing out loud and cringing in all the right places. Adrienne Rhodes paints a perfect picture of an entirely imperfect process. In this day and age, many people argue that online dating is a required stepping stone prior to emerging from the world of singles. And anyone who has experienced it can testify to the joyful, awkward, and downright painful matches that they've met, each of which is catalogued in this spectacular memoir.

In particular, I enjoyed Rhodes's use of emails and text messages to narrate portions of her story, as well as the occasional epigraphs from actual messages that she received from potential dates. Some of them are so tragically hilarious that it's difficult to imagine anyone truly being that clueless/arrogant/ignorant/(insert derogatory adjective here). Her narrative voice is both quirky and self-depracating, which is an endearing quality in a world full of self-promotion. I read the entire memoir in two days, and only because I had to force myself to put it down to get some sleep. I found myself rooting so aggressively for her romantic success that I was a bit disappointed that Rhodes didn't divulge more details of her final match. But to be fair, this book is a memoir about a--let's be real--typically unromantic process that occasionally happens to work.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who's ever dipped a toe in the world of online dating. The hilarious and heartbreaking stories are relatable and the tear-inducing final chapter leaves the reader with a sense of hope.

This little ebook consists mostly of uploaded posts exchanged between the author and numerous men met online. None are particularity interesting, although she and many of her potential mates extol their mutual wittiness. It is all rather mundane and has been better said a hundred times before. Online dating fails for Rhodes who eventually meets a man, ironically one she would have excluded due to his height. Being over six-feet tall, she requested big men, thus limiting the field. Probably the most interesting segments are when she goes after the many men who dump her without warning.

Continuing the saga...

Is that Billinge Lump? ...another intriguing title form Tottie Limejuice. The family saga continues in Totties usual humorous style & yet again I found myself chuckling at the anecdotes & sayings that "mother" comes out with. This time all the action takes place in my own backyard, as we too live in the Auvergne so it makes it so much more real. And ..yes..I am the "Christine" mentioned in the book & I was very pleased to see that I don`t resemble an axe murderer! These books are so easy to read, very true to life & are definitely to be recommended. Well done Tottie...& I can`t wait to read the next installment

A brilliant sequel!

After the success of 'Sell the Pig', this episode in the roller-coaster memoirs of Tottie's move to France with her elderly mother and eccentric brother is quite honestly a wonderful read. It is both sad and hilarious, and Tottie's talent in telling the story is such that it's impossible to put the book down. She is a born author, with an ease of writing that draws you in and makes you more than just a reader, I lived each event as if I was there with them all. I'm looking forward to the next book with baited breath, what next Tottie?!

A Great Sequel!

I enjoyed the first book, "Sell the Pig" and although I'm often disappointed by sequels, I really enjoyed "Is that Billinge Lump?", perhaps more than the first book! I shed a few tears in the process of reading, but was mostly impressed by the writer's determination to push on, in the face of incredible obstacles. My only complaint is that the book is too short. I hope there will be another book coming soon!
