About the Author
Rosina Rucci was born and raised in South Philadelphia. A graduate degree in Journalism from that city’s Temple University led to work in Rome, Italy where she served as Promotions Manager for the children’s channel of the ORBIT Satellite Television and Radio Network. An extraordinary twelve years of life in Rome gave her knowledge of the city, fluency in the Italian language, and her adored son Luca who was born there in 1997. Though South Philadelphia is her beloved birthplace, Italy is her true home and though leaving it in 2003 was difficult, she was thrilled at the chance to work alongside her brother, renowned fashion designer, Ralph Rucci of New York City, as Director of Communications. She has since returned to South Philadelphia, where she currently resides, where her son attends school and where this deeply personal story was born.

I didn't read it...I swallowed it.

I started it at 11pm last night and couldn't wait for evening to come so I could get back to it. 24 hours later, with a few spent tissues, I am spellbound. Growing up in Philadelphia, I was always most intrigued with the well publicized stories of the relatively peaceful Angelo Bruno era followed by the reckless and ruthless Scarfo regime. Years later, I loved The Sopranos for the wonderful glimpses of the family men and double lives lead by these guys, but this story is REAL and written so soulfully by the girl next door. "Intriguing" doesn't begin to cover it. it's funny but also such a poignant love story.
The author artfully transports us back and forth, in time and between her two homes. And between the two worlds of her hero. This is a slice of life you'll want to savor but will likely scarf down, as I did. It's just that good.

A Must Read!

All I can say is that everyone who has loved and lost should read this beautiful love story. Beautifully written with nostalgic descriptions of the South Philadelphia neighborhood that the author calls home. I read this book in one sitting and did not want it to end. A true love story.

Could Not Put This Down!

I bought this book after watching Inside The American Mob on Netflix. When I got to the episode involving the Philly Mob and the Scarfo regime, there was a part that was talking about Salvatore Testa and his being the son of a Philly Mob boss and how Nicky Scarfo had ordered him murdered because of his so called "popularity". I saw the face of a handsome young man who had grown up into the mob because of his father and family connections to the Philly mafia. I kept thinking that there had to be another side to this man, a personal side but of course he was dead so just out of curiosity, I searched his name through Amazon and this book came up. I am so glad that Ms. Rucci wrote this book because it did show that he had another side to him, something that he could keep separate and it showed that he was human with a love for someone that, had he been able to get out of the "family" could've had a lifetime of memories with. My heart broke in a couple of places and I felt so bad for her. I feel that there was a true love between them despite what some other reviewers have said. I bought the Kindle version and finished reading it in a couple of hours. I couldn't put it down and was so sad when I was done because I wanted more. At least she has the memories and special times she shared with him. Buy this book and read about one woman's love for a man who had he had the chance could've had more than 6000 days with the love of his life.
